Dear Friends

I hope you are well and have enjoyed a break. As the rest of society opens up, it is important that our church does too. However we have a small building, and there are still unknowns. Also many of us are still anxious. With the support of our PCC, the wardens and I propose the following changes to take place starting on Sunday 12th September.

We will go back to having one main service on Sundays at 10am, this will not require booking. This will be streamed where possible. The 3rd Sunday service will still be 'All Age' with a different liturgy, but for the moment children will sit with their parents rather than gathering at the front.

At this service we will use every pew, but there will be cards available to place next to you if you would like space leaving.

Because we are using every pew, the safest way to share communion will be for you to resume coming up to the altar rail. (If you are worried about many people touching this, it is fine to stand to receive communion). For the time being you will still only receive the bread, and the other precautions around Communion will remain.

We will put the books back in the pews, as there will now be a week between uses. We propose to continue with a gradual reintroduction of singing - starting with having a final hymn to end the service.

Junior church will also restart, but for now places will be limited, due to the lack of space in the Stables. Junior church parents will receive a separate email explaining how this will work. But families/children are welcome at all services, even if they are unable to attend Junior church.

Going back to one main service means that the early BCP Eucharist can restart - many thanks for your patience if this is your service. It will take place every Sunday at 8.30am. If you are an early riser and would like a less busy service - this is a possibility.

The midweek Eucharist (Weds at 11am) will continue, again a less busy service; as will Evensong on the first and third Sundays of the month at 6.30pm. None of these need booking.

If you had a role in any of these services which has not been needed during lockdowns - do contact whoever organised the rota as this help will again be very important. If there is something you fancy getting involved with - get in touch. We especially need someone to take on producing the weekly pew sheet. If you (or a group of you) might be able to help with this - we would be very grateful.

If any of this is unclear, or you have questions - do get in touch. We are really looking forward to worshipping as a whole church family again. Hopefully this provision will allow everyone to feel comfortable.

With love and prayers

Alison
