COVID 19 OUTBREAK - LATEST NEWS AND GUIDELINES

A message from Alison 04/04/20

Dear Friends

We enter the most important week of the church’s year in the midst of a crisis unlike anything we have known. I’m sure, like me, you have been heartened by the acts of kindness shown by friends, neighbours and strangers. Never-the-less, this will be another difficult week.

I wonder, though, whether this enables us to appreciate the events of Holy Week in a special way. Those events took place when Jerusalem was in a state of heightened tension: the Roman authorities were alarmed by the huge following Jesus was building up; the religious leaders were alarmed at the thought of the Romans taking away the freedoms to worship they had managed to negotiate; Jesus’ followers were scared by his talk of death…

So alongside the new routines you are working out, I invite you to share in the story of God’s love, shown so clearly in Jesus’ final week.

Hopefully you have found the ‘Adel Parish Church’ Facebook page. Since we cannot meet in church – there will be services each day on that page. They will be played as a ‘watch party’ at the times advertised, but then will stay available on the page.

Palm Sunday 10am Parish Eucharist with Passion dramatized by Adel Players

Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday 7pm Compline with a short reflection on the day’s reading.

Maundy Thursday 7pm Parish Eucharist with ‘stripping of the altar’ and watch

Good Friday 10am Children’s service of stories and songs

2pm Meditations on Holy week from the characters around Jesus – provided by church members young and not so young. Followed by veneration of the cross. (Join us for all or part!)

Easter Sunday 10am Parish Eucharist

And I pray that in these strange times you will know the gift of hope amidst darkness offered by the joy of Easter Sunday and Jesus’ resurrection.

With love and prayers

Alison

Christmas Angels 2020

Angel 2020

In 2018 we distributed over 700 handknitted  Christmas Angels around the parish. We would like to do the same again this year. Would you like to help out? If so please find the pattern by clicking here and let Marjorie Cole know by emailing adelbellscm@gmail.com.

Revision of the Church’s Electoral Roll

In the years we don’t produce a new Electoral Roll, we revise the existing one in time for the Annual Parochial Church Meeting (APCM), which will be on 26 April.

If you are on the Roll produced last year you are eligible to attend and take part in the APCM you do not need to take any action (unless you have moved in which case you should provide us with your new address). However, if you are NOT on the roll and wish to attend the APCM, you must apply for enrolment by 29 March. The revised Roll will come into effect on 5 April; then new names can be added only after the APCM.
