Please note, as the Church relies on volunteers for opening it may be that you arrive at church and it has been closed at short notice and we apologise for this.

Church Sitting. An appeal for more helpers

We open Adel church for visitors for a couple of hours each Monday and Saturday afternoon. We are able to do this because we have a wonderful band of church sitters. “Sitting” the church is an amazing experience. We meet all sorts of people; some just happen to be passing and see the door is open, some visiting for a quiet moment of prayer, some come for the history, and some because, well, “who knows why?”. We get to enjoy the peace & calm in the rare moments when no one else is there. And yes of course, we want to carry on keeping the church open, but sadly, two of our most regular sitters have now had to stand down. So, we need some more help please!
We are looking for people who would be happy to come and “sit” the church with us on occasional Saturday afternoons. We always sit in pairs, and “newbies” will always be paired with one of our regular sitters. And it’s important to say, church sitters don’t have to be church goers, you just need to care about the church and its beautiful churchyard.
